The gut microbiome
What is the gut microbiome?
The means of investigation are constantly improving, as are the techniques for sequencing the genome. It is now recognized that the microbiota plays a role in well-being and health
Take care of your microbiome
Nutrition is a lever that can be used to promote bacterial diversity and thus be better protected against diseases where its impoverishment is involved, such as diabetes, obesity, IBD (chronic inflammatory bowel disease), allergies or metabolic syndrome.
Food supplements containing probiotics can be an option to improve the quality and the equilibrium of the gut.
How it works
The intestinal microbiota facilitates the maturation of the immune system (largely localized at the intestinal level). It breaks down fibres and carbohydrates not digested by digestive enzymes and thus generates compounds that contribute to the good condition of the intestinal mucosa. Finally, it produces vitamins (K, B8 and B12). But if it becomes unbalanced, it can be harmful to health.
